It’s pissing down today

It’s been sunny days over the last couple of days here in Canberra, but from this morning it’s heavy raining. This is going to be a blessing! Canberra, as you know, is a very dry city compared to other cities. We need more rain for moisturising the continent and bushland.

So, today I’m gonna talk about types of weather including natural disaster. When it comes to weather, it springs to my mind is Typhoon, which originally comes from Japanese word, or perhaps in some cases Chinese called ‘big wind’. But, actually the kanji 台風 comes from Chinese character. So, it may have originated from Chinese. In Japan, every year we have Typhoon seasons or periods, which is usually right after ‘Ohigan’ period, or the mid-August til the mid-September or two. People are always worried about how to protect their houses themselves. Okinawa has a different architectural setting compared to other Honshu cities in consideration of the high frequency of encountering seasonal Typhoon devastations.

Another one I wanna mention today is earthquake in Japan. Although Japan has a number of active volcanoes across the country, we also have a risk of huge inter-plate earthquakes, which is specifically extremely dangerous for the continent. Backing in 2011, we had a massive earthquake-led devastation which resulted in triple disaster: earthquakes, Tsunamis and Nuclear plants’ explosion. To simply put, we can completely stop relying on nuclear power for generating our daily power consumption if we get rid of entire vending machines, convenience stores as well as pachinko parlours. I know it’s nearly impossible task for Japan, but that’s the only way we can think of.

Anyway, that’s all for today. Thanks for reading!

And, see you guys!
